Seek advice on classes, majors, and life at Princeton from trained juniors and seniors who’ve been there. Draw on the experience of peers in your residential college by connecting with PAAs, trained upper-level student academic mentors. PAAs are affiliated with first-year residential college advising cohorts (known as zee groups) and with the Residential College Leadership Team (RCLT). Representing a variety of academic paths at Princeton, PAAs offer advice on classes, workloads, and the trajectory toward majors and minors/certificates during your first and sophomore years. Your advising group (or "zee group") is the small group of first-years students who live near you in your residential hallway. Guided by your RCA, who lives nearby, and supported by your PAA, your zee group will be a source of support and community during your first year. During your first two years, your RCAs, PAAs, and RGSs will host various study breaks and other zee group events to continue fostering community. Preparing for Princeton Peer academic advisers work closely with assistant deans for studies in each residential college and serve a crucial role in supporting you as you make the academic transition to college. ClassPath: Your PAA typically introduces themselves to you and your zee group over the summer and invites you to participate in ClassPath, an online advising course offered in mid-late summer. Orientation: Your PAA serves a lead role in welcoming you, hosting advising events, helping out during first-year course registration, and leading aspects of academic orientation programming, including the Academic Integrity session and Pre-read discussion. College 101: PAAs offer their zee groups opportunities for structured group discussions on a range of topics in College 101, which runs during the fall semester as you transition to academic life at Princeton. Peer Academic Advising PAAs serve as academic mentors throughout your first and sophomore years, and offer individual check-ins. They also create and participate in programming to support your successful navigation of academic decisions. PAAs remain a presence for you throughout the year, and often, for the duration of your time at Princeton. Residential College Programs PAAs are encouraged to join RCA study breaks and co-host at least two academic advising study breaks of their own. They facilitate a variety of academic programs, including advising fairs, academic events, and programming during major selection for A.B. sophomores and B.S.E. first-years.
